Mimi’s Mission

Mimi's Mission is a local non-profit organization that helps Downriver families who have autistic children or adults. The goal of the organization is to provide unique programs and resources to autistic individuals and their families.

Mimi's Mission provides assistance to families with autistic children and adults who live in the following Downriver communities: Allen Park, Brownstown Charter Township, Ecorse, Flat Rock, Gibraltar, Grosse Ile Township, Huron Charter Township, Lincoln Park, Melvindale, River Rouge, Riverview, Rockwood, Romulus, Southgate, Taylor, Trenton, Woodhaven, and Wyandotte.
Programs include: Autism Optimism (for parents of newly diagnosed children with autism); Autism Acceptance Group (a parent-driven support group that offers socialization, meetings, dinner, demonstrations and/or activities); Downriver Young adults (a program similar to the Autism Acceptance Group, for autistic individuals between 17-30 yrs old); Downriver Do-Gooders (a FB group to connect Downriver residents to free household, clothing, and other needs); and a 911Ready Program to help Parents and First Responders.

ASK Family Services

Parent to Parent of SW MI promotes opportunities for children with disabilities and special needs to fully participate in society through the support and education of families and communities. We offer peer support program, parent mentoring training, and support groups.

FOD (Fatty Oxidation Disorders) Family Support Group

We are an All Volunteer national and international support group specifically for Fatty Oxidation Disorders and a 501c3 non-profit corporation that raises funds for the training of new FOD Professionals and for future FOD Research, as well as for our daily operations, National Conferences, and probono face-to-face or skype Grief Support for Bereaved Parents, Families, and other adults living with loss from any cause.

Lutheran Social Services of Michigan

Organization that provides a variety of services, including behavioral health services and disability support services, including Life Skills Development, Activities of Daily Living Management, Case Management Liaison, Family Support, Transportation, Medication Reminders, Individual Service Planning, Structured Activities, Community Integration, Program Evaluation and Continuous Quality Improvement, Advocacy Services, 24-Hour On-Call Support, Respite, and Person-Centered Care.

Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan, La Casa Amiga

Spanish-speaking staff and volunteers will help you, give you information, or enroll you in our educational and skills development programs in education, finance, prevention, job preparation and immigration services, as well as many other support services: for example, free interpreting services between parents and teachers, Educational services for children from elementary to high school, Tutoring (homework help and after-school academic help), Mentoring: Adult mentors help children and adolescents succeed academically.
Other Services include: Basic Assistance Needs, Education, Assistance in the implementation and management of Government Programs, Prevention Services, Job Preparation, Financial Activities Support, Assistance and Preparation in Employment Location, Immigration, Other Services, Social and Community Support.

Advocates for Mental Health of Michigan Youth are a parent-led, grassroots group working on behalf of youth in need of complex mental health support and services in Michigan. Their goal is to improve the mental health system for children and adolescents who need the highest level of support.
