Michigan Coalition for Deaf and Hard of Hearing People

The mission of the Coalition is to provide a forum to promote networking, communication, and information sharing, collaboration and service delivery through the mutual efforts of its diverse membership. To put it simply, we are a dedicated group of people who are Deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing, working together to improve life in Michigan for people who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Baby’s First Test Mobile App

The Baby's First Test mobile app serves as a quick reference guide for health professionals, state public health programs, families, and any other individuals or groups looking for the latest newborn screening information at their fingertips. The mobile app allows users to easily search for condition-specific information, including causes, treatment, and family experiences, as well as review newborn screening information in their state, including conditions found on each state's newborn screening panel. By saving users most common searches, the mobile app allows users to navigate and search with ease, giving busy professionals and families the right information at the right time without any of the hassle.

Home Help Services

Home Help Services is a program administered by the Department of Human Services (DHS). It is designed to give support to individuals who are unable to care for themselves adequately at home. This program provides funding for individuals to hire helpers to assist with daily activities. This allows people to live in their own homes rather than live in nursing homes, adult foster care homes, or homes for the aged.

Build Up MI Kids

Michigan Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) services include special instruction and related services provided to young children, ages 3 through 5, who qualify under the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA, Part B, Section 619). Through its 56 Intermediate School Districts (ISDs), Michigan's ECSE program offers a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) to all eligible children at no cost to their families, and in the Least Restrictive Environment. The Build up MI kids website provides parents with information on available services and eligibility requirements. Website language is selectable and includes Spanish.
