There are two Social Security programs for individuals with disabilities. Information about SSI (supplemental security income) and SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance) can be found on this website, as well as instructions about applying for benefits.
The Statewide Autism Resources and Training (START) Project is funded by the Michigan Department of Education, Office of Special Education to provide evidence-based training, technical assistance, and resources to educators in Michigan that serve students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
The Children’s Waiver Program is a federal entitlement program that provides Medicaid funded home and community-based services to children with developmental disabilities and who have challenging behaviors and/or complex medical needs. This waiver provides services to support the family so that the child can remain at home with his/her family.
The Family Support Subsidy (FSS) Program provides financial assistance to families that include a child with severe developmental disabilities. The intent is to help make it possible for children with developmental disabilities to remain with or return to their birth or adoptive families. The program provides a monthly payment. Families are able to use this money for special expenses incurred while caring for their child.
The Michigan Genetics Resource Center is a public health education service. The site is designed to share Michigan and national resources in order to promote population health through the appropriate use of genetic information and services. Clinical genetic service and support group directories, teaching tools, and information for policy makers are available as well as Michigan and national program descriptions and links.
Michigan’s Aging and Disability Resource Centers Program/No Wrong Door System (NWD) is the best place for family, friends, caregivers and providers to get information about long-term supports and services for older adults and persons with disabilities. Whether you are looking for services to stay in your home and live independently or options for assisted living and nursing home care, the ADRC program can help you learn about what is available for you in your community. Our staff provides information, referrals, support, and advocacy services to people with a wide variety of disabilities, both visible and invisible. We also work on a larger scale, helping local businesses, and other organizations to make changes that improve life for everyone in the community.
Community Based Interventions (CBI) Rehabilitation Services provides programs for children and adults. The Children’s services program serves children with need for respite care during a crisis situation and the adult residential services program provides 24-hour support to individuals with traumatic brain injury and significant behavioral and cognitive disabilities. The adult program teaches clients daily living skills provided by trained staff and supports maintaining them in their own residence. Vocational services are also provided at CBI Giving Tree Farm for individuals with brain injuries and developmental disabilities.
MORC, Inc. is a human services organization that coordinates long-term supports for individuals with physical and developmental disabilities and the elderly in Southeast Michigan. We coordinate primarily Medicaid funded services that give support in all areas of life including living arrangements, daily life skills, education, employment and community integration. The goal of our services is to empower people to maximize their potential.
