Mimi’s Mission

Mimi's Mission is a local non-profit organization that helps Downriver families who have autistic children or adults. The goal of the organization is to provide unique programs and resources to autistic individuals and their families.

Mimi's Mission provides assistance to families with autistic children and adults who live in the following Downriver communities: Allen Park, Brownstown Charter Township, Ecorse, Flat Rock, Gibraltar, Grosse Ile Township, Huron Charter Township, Lincoln Park, Melvindale, River Rouge, Riverview, Rockwood, Romulus, Southgate, Taylor, Trenton, Woodhaven, and Wyandotte.
Programs include: Autism Optimism (for parents of newly diagnosed children with autism); Autism Acceptance Group (a parent-driven support group that offers socialization, meetings, dinner, demonstrations and/or activities); Downriver Young adults (a program similar to the Autism Acceptance Group, for autistic individuals between 17-30 yrs old); Downriver Do-Gooders (a FB group to connect Downriver residents to free household, clothing, and other needs); and a 911Ready Program to help Parents and First Responders.

Association for Person in Supported Employment (APSE)

MIAPSE is a state chapter of the APSE. Members are dedicated to the growth and expansion of supported and customized employment.

APSE-The Network on Employment is a national and state membership organization formed to improve and expand integrated employment opportunities, services, and outcomes for persons with significant disabilities. APSE is an organization for Supported Employees, Employers, Family Members, Providers and Advocates.
MIAPSE provides training to vocational rehabilitation professionals in Michigan. In addition, the members advocate for fully inclusive community employment.

Creative Empowerment Opportunities

Creative Empowerment Opportunities serves individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum, those that are physically challenged, and those in recovery from mental illness. They help individuals learn daily living skills in functional academics, physical health, social recreation, volunteering, and employment. They provide a wide variety of adaptive programs and activities aimed at different outcomes for the Individuals. These are based around the Individual's abilities, likes, and dislikes. Some outcomes include development of daily skills, community involvement, or even potential employment.

Charting the Life Course Person Centered Tools

Charting the Lift Course Person Centered tools are flexible and can be used by anyone, for anything. Use them yourself or find someone that can help you explore, problem-solve, make decisions, or plan for the future. You can use the tools to capture what is important to you, plan for a life transition, set a vision, or think about how to solve any problem in your life - big or small, right now or in the future. The tools can help you to have more meaningful conversations with the people in your life.

Pacer Center

The Pacer Center offers several programs for children with disabilities and mental health challenges including a parent information center, a national bullying prevention center, a health information center, a technology center, and newsletters and publications.

Judson Center

Offers a comprehensive array of individual & group services for children, teens and adults with ASD and their families. Also offers services in the areas of mental health, disability and child & family services including respite care and employment services for adults with disabilities.

Got Transition is a website providing information and resources for families, health care providers, researchers, and policymakers on transitioning from youth health care services to adult health care services for individuals with disabilities. The site includes a comprehensive resource tab and informational webinars.
